One of the major challenges facing first year students in any of the engineering fields is maths. These subjects have a high degree of abstraction because of their basic nature. In addition, the concepts are built on top of each other, so that students tend to have a fairly negative view of maths subjects and see them as boring and uninteresting to them in a short and medium term.
