The Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP in Catalan), jointly with the Secretary of Universities and Research of the Generalitat of Catalonia, launched last Monday the online portal “Bonespractiques.acup.cat”, a platform listing teaching-related best practices of the Catalan public universities.

The following UPF projects —promoted by the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Knowledge (CLIK)— are included:

  1. HackLab UPF: Hacklab is a co-creation workshop that facilitates innovation projects amongst interdisciplinary students. This project encourages out-of-class, technological activities and the acquisition of multidisciplinary competences. Pilar Villanueva, undergratuade student of the Bachelors Degree in Audiovisual Communication, tells us about her Hacklab experience (5´20´´).

  2.  Advertising campaigns for third sector entities using service-learning methodology:  Students of the Advertising Communication course developed promotional materials for an organization included in the Catalan Board of Entities of the Third Social Sector. In 2015-2016, this project was awarded with UPF innovation funding and was already qualified as “Best practice” during UPF’s innovation day. Pilar Medina, course lecturer, and Carme Hernández, UPF pedagogue, tell us about the idea (2´50´´).

    3. TrivialIus. Gamification and problem-based learning: The Faculty of Law uses gamification techniques in one of its programme courses. With the TrivialIus game, students ask and answer course-related questions in teams. Lorena Ramírez, course lecturer, explains how it works.

    4. Social Business: An approach to blended-learning: UPF’s MOOC "Social business: A sustainable way to face the most pressing needs of our time" is integrated as a part of the optional, face-to-face course “Management of Non-Profit Institutions” (Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Management), thus transforming it into a blended-learning experience. Professor Ester Oliveras, from the Economics and Business Sciences department, talks about it in this video (5´10´´).

All these projects have been selected by a scientific committee made up of interdisciplinary experts. The ideas listed focus on teaching, research, knowledge transfer and educational centre management.
