The UPF hosted on the 18th November the opening day of mSchools Eduhack, an education programme that promotes teaching co-creation and innovative solutions related to digital technology and sustainability.

During the inaugural session, the vice-rector for the management of innovation projects, Prof. José Luis Martí, appealed to the need of introducing changes in the current educational paradigm. "We need to rethink the concept of education and apply a more open and creative outlook," he claimed.

Next, attendees were divided into teams for a group activity: they had to design projects regarding the "new education" concept: digital and creative skills, problem solving and communication, and critical thinking. 60 pilot prototypes of these projects will be selected and tested in educational centres throughout Catalonia.

Eduhack proposals combine the methodology of “design thinking”, a type of learning in which the user solves problems in a creative way through collaboration, optimism and experimentation. Based on these principles, mSchools EduHack will work to develop a methodology for the Catalan educational context.

Eduhack is part of the mSchools programme, an initiative of mEducation that promotes the Mobile World Capital Barcelona in collaboration with the Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona’s Council and GSMA.
