Prepare for your audition

In the auditions, your musical abilities and your interest in music and in the UPF Chamber Orchestra are assessed. The audition is divided into two parts:

1. Practical audition: your intonation, rhythm, phrasing, dynamics, musicality, etc. are assessed. This is also divided into two parts:

  • Performance of two pieces (different styles and times: one quick and the other slow). You should take into account that there will be no piano accompaniment. Therefore it is advisable to choose a piece for a solo instrument or works whose accompaniment is not very important. Your performance will last a maximum 10 minutes. You must submit a copy of the scores to the conductor.

  • Performance of a passage to choose:

  • Orchestral instruments: an orchestral passage for which you can choose from the two shown below, depending on the instrument you play. The works in this section belong to the repertoire available in Orchester Probespiel (string - Schott, wind - Peters). Click here to see the list of orchestral passages.

2. Interview: the questions will be based on the document outlining your musical track record and will be connected with your experience and your interest in joining the UPF Chamber Orchestra in order to get to know the candidate better. The interview will take no longer than 10 minutes.
