Exhibition “Univers Jordi Cano” (June 14 – July 22, 2022)
Exhibition “Univers Jordi Cano” (June 14 – July 22, 2022)
On Tuesday, June 14, at 5:30 PM, the exhibition “Univers Jordi Cano” will open at the Galeria Área Talleres on the Poblenou Campus. The exhibition is dedicated to the artist and designer Jordi Cano (1954–2020), who was a professor in the Degree in Advertising and Public Relations at Pompeu Fabra University. The opening will be attended by Oriol Amat, Rector of UPF; Glòria Picazo, exhibition curator; and Beatriu Malaret, professor and spouse of the artist.
Cano developed an extensive career in the field of graphic design, first at Eumogràfic (1984–2013) and from 2014 at Eumo_dc. At UPF, he was involved in the committee that worked on creating the curriculum for the Degree in Advertising and Public Relations. He also taught at the Elisava School of Barcelona and at the University of Vic.
The exhibition is part of the “Univers Jordi Cano” project, recently presented at ACVIC. Centre d’Arts Contemporànies and the Vic School of Art. It pays tribute to Cano’s career with works such as La lògica del carnisser (1991–1992) and Làmpada de llàgrimes (2003), as well as some artist books, presented alongside the texts that inspired them. The exhibition is completed with a video about the “4D Method: Discover, Define, Develop, and Direct”, a system developed by Cano for carrying out creative projects applied to art direction.
“Univers Jordi Cano” is the result of a collaboration between ACVIC. Centre d’Arts Contemporànies and the Degree in Advertising and Public Relations at Pompeu Fabra University. It constitutes the second exhibition at Galeria Área Talleres, which opened last November with “Evidència” by Joan Fontcuberta. The exhibition will be on view until July 22.
