The "In Construction Room" is a space with thirty-three seats and cutting-edge visual and audio equipment that is used to screen unfinished audiovisual productions with a view to stimulating interaction and discussion. Its name is a nod towards the documentary In Construction (José Luis Guerin, 2001), an internationally acclaimed Catalan film, which revolutionised our way of understanding the boundary between fiction and documentary films. The origins of this documentary also lie in a university initiative in which Guerin worked with students from the UPF-BSM Master’s Degree in Creative Documentary, today important names in documentary filmmaking.

In addition to its educational uses, this room may also be used by Catalonia’s various cultural industry collectives for:  Screening audiovisual productions in their various stages of development, film previews and technical screenings.
