Throughout 2025, the INTERMAPS team has actively participated in international academic events, presenting research and methodological innovations focused on space, intersectionality, gender, and affective experiences.

May 16 — Workshop on Innovative Feminist Methodologies in Geography, UAB, Barcelona

  • Júlia Pascual Bordas: Exploring Domestic Space: Analysis of LGBT+ Youth’s Experiences in Bages, Catalonia

  • Núria Font-Casaseca: Mapping Place from the Margins

The workshop, organized by the Gender and Geography Group at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), focused on feminist and intersectional methodological innovations in geography.

May 28–29 — Politics & Gender Conference 2025, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ

  • Uxía Reboiro-Río: Political Violence against Feminist Advocates: An Intersectional Analysis

The presentation illustrated how spatial-affective mapping can be applied to study gendered political violence from an intersectional perspective.

July 6–11 — 5th ISA Forum of Sociology, Rabat, Morocco

  • Belén Masi: On Top of Everything, You're Argentinian. Methodological Notes on the Challenges of Studying Elites in Catalonia

This contribution reflected on Relief Maps as a methodological tool and its application from a situated intersectional perspective.

July 9–12 — ATGENDER 2025, 12th European Feminist Research Conference, UAB, Barcelona

  • Multiple team members presented work on intersectional experiences of climate, housing, sexuality, and feminist resistance.

Workshop organized: Maria Rodó-Zárate, Júlia Pascual-Bordas, Mar Coll-Planell: Mapping Intersectional Inequalities: Applications and Adaptations of Relief Maps in Feminist Research.

The workshop introduced reliefmap.upf.edu and fostered critical discussions on methodological applications and feminist geographic practices.

September 23–26 — Master’s Degree in Local Development Kick-off Seminar, DiSSGeA, University of Padua, Italy

  • Prof. Maria Rodó-Zárate: What Does Intersectionality Mean? And Why Is It Important? Concepts, Tools and Reflections for Exploring Rural Youth — Keynote lecture.

  • She also participated in the roundtable Inside the Map: Transformative Cartographies in Dialogue at the University of Padua.

Through these activities, INTERMAPS continues to strengthen international collaborations, disseminate methodological innovations, and contribute to feminist, intersectional, and geographical debates on space, emotion, and lived experience.
