ORIOL PUIG CEPERO
Senior Researcher

Oriol Puig currently works as a specialist migration officer in the Global Justice and International Cooperation Department of Barcelona City Council. Previously, he worked as a specialist officer responsible for sub-Saharan Africa in the Foreign Affairs Department of the Government of Catalonia. He is a research associate at GRITIM-UPF and also an associate professor at the Open University of Catalonia, where he teaches on globalisation, post-colonialism, interculturality and migration. He holds a PhD in social anthropology from the University of Barcelona and was awarded the 2017 Extraordinary Doctorate Prize. He also has a degree in journalism and throughout his career has led projects on cooperation, social change and narratives on Africa and migration, as well as working as a consultant for international organisms and organisations in the field of human mobility, climate change and migration governance.
