Cristian Lozano Recalde is the new coordinator of the Ideograma-UPF Chair

Researcher Cristian Lozano Recalde has been appointed as the new coordinator of the Ideograma-UPF Chair in Political Communication and Democracy. Under the supervision of the Chair’s Directorate, he will be responsible for carrying out research and knowledge transfer activities. He will also oversee the management of communication initiatives.
“I take on this role with a sense of responsibility, excited to contribute my experience and knowledge so that the Chair continues to grow in the right direction and successfully develops new research projects,” said the new coordinator.
Lozano holds a PhD in Communication from Pompeu Fabra University and a Master’s degree in Political and Corporate Communication from the University of Navarra. Currently, in addition to his research and teaching activities, he works as a digital communication consultant for companies and businesses in Ecuador. He also served as coordinator of the research project Crisis and Emergency Communication in Social Media, awarded and funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
His main research areas include crisis and risk communication, the use of social media in political and institutional communication, and political discourse on social media. He has published several academic articles on these topics.
The Ideograma-UPF Chair in Political Communication and Democracy promotes training, research, and the dissemination of activities related to political communication and its impact on democratic systems. Its main research areas include information credibility and anti-media discourse. This year, one of the Chair’s objectives is to examine the use of artificial intelligence in political communication.
