The second edition of the international meeting Crosspoint Meeting, this year focused on news avoidance

The second edition of the international meeting organized by the Chair of Communication Futures, the Crosspoint Meeting: Echoes of the Future, will take place on December 4, 2024, featuring experts on news avoidance from across Europe. During the session, the Chair will present the results of its research on news avoidance among young people living in Catalonia.

The annual meeting organized by the Chair of Communication Futures, the Crosspoint Meeting, will this year focus on news avoidance, a growing phenomenon characterized by social detachment from informational products.

The event, scheduled for December 4, 2024, will take place at La Nau Hall and will feature two international speakers: Antonis Kalogeropoulos from the Free University of Brussels, an expert in news avoidance and lead researcher on an ERC project on this topic; and Sílvia Majó-Vázquez from the Free University of Amsterdam, an expert in media diets and a collaborator with the Reuters Institute. The session will be moderated by Manuel Goyanes from Universidad Carlos III, an expert in news avoidance who has extensively researched the predictor factor "the news finds me," as an explanatory element of avoidance.

The research team from UPF, led by Laura Pérez, and including Yasmina Okan, Jarosław R. Lelonkiewicz, and Bertran Salvador-Mata, will present the results of the Chair in Futures of Communicaiton research on news avoidance among young people in Catalonia.
