Future of audiovisual education

En aquest taller, experts i expertes convidades per la Càtedra debatran sobre els escenaris de futur de la l'educació audiovisual, en un context fortament marcat per la tecnologia i els nous formats i mecanismes de distribució. Els avenços en tecnologia, els formats mediàtics i els canals per consumir i distribuir contingut audiovisual presenten reptes importants per a l'educació universitària en comunicació audiovisual. On es dirigeixen els programes universitaris—o on haurien de dirigir-se? Aquesta taula, formada per les coordinadores de grau de diverses universitats catalanes, té com a objectiu discutir el futur de la comunicació audiovisual, els reptes i oportunitats docents, els perfils professionals emergents i com poden les universitats adaptar-se per oferir una educació de qualitat.

Morten Fjeld is a professor of Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Bergen (Norway) and Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden). His research activities are situated in the field of Human-Computer Interaction with a focus on tangible and tabletop user computing. In 2005, he founded the t2i Interaction Lab at Chalmers, Sweden. He holds a dual MSc degree in applied mathematics from NTNU (Trondheim, Norway) and ENSIMAG (Grenoble, France), and a PhD from ETH (Zurich, Switzerland). In 2002, Morten Fjeld received the ETH Medal for his PhD titled "Designing for Tangible Interaction". In 2011, he was a visiting professor at NUS Singapore, in 2016 and 2017 at Tohoku University, Japan, and in 2019 to 2020 at ETH Zurich. Morten Fjeld also has extensive industrial experience in the areas of fluid mechanics, simulators, and user interface design

With over 10 years of experience in corporate communication, business development and strategic planning, Cristina Mont Castro currently serves as Strategy and Innovation Director at Grupo Lavinia, where she leads cross-functional projects that drive growth and organizational transformation. Her career began in journalism, working for various media outlets before transitioning to corporate communication, where she has applied her expertise to designing communication and corporate strategies and managing international projects from Brussels, with a focus on innovation and funding opportunities. She holds a dual degree in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication, an Executive MBA from Esade, and a certificate in B2B Management
Dr. Elena Neira (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya)

Law and Audiovisual Communication graduate with a PhD in Humanities and Communication. Her doctoral dissertation focused on measuring the success of audiovisual content on SVOD platforms. She currently serves as a Professor of Communication Studies at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC). Her main research explores the impact of streaming platforms on the traditional audiovisual industry and its audiences. She has delivered numerous talks and conferences, including a TED Talk on Netflix, and was named one of the 50 most influential women in the Spanish audiovisual industry by Forbes magazine. She contributes regularly to Business Insiderand El Periódico, and is the author of several books and academic articles. Her most recent publication is Streaming Wars: The New Television (Libros Cúpula)
Dr. Miguel Salerno (Neopsis, Italy)

With over 25 years of experience in media consumption research, he collaborates with major market players in Italy. In 2010, he founded Neopsis, an institute specializing in sociocultural scenarios and media consumption research. In recent years, Neopsis has delved into the analysis of TV series, focusing on evolving scenarios, as well as providing tailored investigations and consultations for individual titles and line-ups.
He holds a degree in Sociology from the University of Buenos Aires and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Bologna. He has taught for over 10 years in the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the University of Italian Switzerland and regularly conducts seminars on media consumption analysis at various Italian universities
Dr. Mar Guerrero-Picó (Universitat Pompeu Fabra)

Mar Guerrero-Pico is a Tenure-track Lecturer in Fan Studies, Transmedia Storytelling, and Media Literacy in the Department of Communication at Universitat Pompeu Fabra-Barcelona, Spain, where she also serves as Director of the BA in Audiovisual Communication. She is the co-leader of the national R&D project LITERAC_IA (2024-2027), which focuses on exploring how teenagers are using artificial intelligences in their everyday lives to identify key practices and informal learning processes. Her research interests include fan cultures, (trans)media education, television shows, and platformisation. Her articles have been published in journals such as New Media and Society, Social Media + Society, Learning, Media and Technology, and International Journal of Communication, among others.
