As we did with the Treballs de Fi de Grau [undergraduate dissertations] in the academic year 2016-2017 (summarized report here), USQUID has collected and analyzed some data regarding our students’ TFGs (academic year 2017-2018) again. These are some of the most relevant pieces of data:

Firstly, regarding languages, a similar percentage of the students have opted for each of the three possible languages (30% in Spanish, 32% in Catalan, and 35% in English). The previous year, in contrast, 47% of the TFGs were written up in Spanish.

Secondly, regarding work typology, last year’s trend goes on: most of the dissertations focus on research (42% this year, compared to 49% in 2016-2017). Next go the dissertations related to business (22.31%, compared to 22.5% last year). Finally, interdisciplinary TFGs and those related to entrepreneurship come to 12.61% each.

Regarding topics, in broad terms, the two most popular ones are “Business Strategies for the ICT Sector” and “Management and Innovation” (14.17% each) and, specifically in each degree, the following data arose:

  • In the Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Systems Engineering, two popular topics are “Sound and Music Computing” (4.36%) and “Sound and Music Technologies” (7.63%).
  • In the Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Network Engineering two popular topics are “Wired and Wireless Communications” (5.46%) and “Network Technologies” (4.36%).
  • In the Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, some of the most chosen topics are “Graphics” (5.45%), “Artificial Intelligence” (5.45%) and “Others-Blockchain Systems” (3.27%).
