Would you like to know what USQUID did during 2017?

09.02.2018

From the USQUID of the ESUP / DTIC we are pleased to share with you the summary of the most relevant activities and actions that have taken place in 2017. Remember that the USQUID focuses its work on improving the quality of teaching in the center as well as in the promotion and support of innovation actions carried out, both by the faculty and by the USQUID itself. The Unit is formed by Davinia Hernández-Leo (Director) and Verónica Moreno Oliver (Pedagogue), who have partial support through educational cooperation agreements. Due to the creation of the UCA EiTIC, the USQUID has begun to take on new challenges that go beyond the Degrees studies, taking a relevant role in the processes of monitoring, verification and accreditation of master's and doctoral degrees. Public information about these processes can be found on the center's website (https://www.upf.edu/en/web/etic/qualitat).

The USQUID has continued working throughout 2017 to include new materials and information in its website, for example, if you access teacher’s resources, you will find all the information about the Symposium on Teaching Innovation and Quality at the ESUP-DTIC, which contains a summary and program of each of the editions held so far, including, logically, the corresponding to the fourth edition, held on March 17th, 2017. In turn, and under the heading of resources for students, you will find a section with audiovisual materials and resources, documentation, etc. aimed at giving support and promoting learning and self-learning in different areas, transversal competences and also information about the HackLab de la UPF that has been the center of work of a collective project of the UPF USQUIDs and with the collaboration of the CLIK. The HackLab initiative, a co-creation of ideas workshop, has been awarded with the UPF Social Council prize in the Teaching Initiative modality.

We would like to highlight the participation as guest lecturer of the Director of the USQUID-ESUP in the Conference on Teaching Innovation 2017: Results and Strategies (Carlos III University of Madrid-Digital) held on June 29th, 2017 and the Pedagogue of the USQUID ESUP/DTIC in the III International Forum on Teacher Training held the last week of May at the Institute of Psychology and Education of the Federal University of Kazan (Russia). We would also like to remind you that all USQUID publications are available in the publications section of the website.

Regarding the projects carried out by the USQUID during 2017, the IMAX-HackLab (previously mentioned as having been awarded by the Social Council) stands out, in which the 1st HackLab UPF Conference was held and the first edition of the HackLab Awards was convened. It is also worth mentioning the participation in the biannual project of integration of the gender perspective in teaching, where specific teaching material has been developed for, in our case, engineering, and where teachers can find various resources, guidance and support for the integration of the gender perspective in teaching (both in the classroom and in reference to materials, documentation and resources for learning, etc.). All this material will soon be accessible in our web space, section "educational resources; resources for teachers ". Finally, we would like to mention the OSWALDO project, coordinated with the studies of Translation and Language Sciences and whose purpose is to promote and support the observation culture of teaching. During the planning and deployment of the OSWALDO project, good practices have been analyzed at the international level and specific materials have been designed to facilitate observations among the participating teachers; in fact, during the course of 2016-2017, a pilot test of OSWALDO was carried out in which 8 professors from both departments participated. This piloting has allowed us to collect feedback for the improvement of the materials and reflect on their continuity. From the coordination of OSWALDO, work is being carried out jointly with CLIK to facilitate the extension of the initiative to other faculties of UPF.

Lastly, we would like to highlight the studies carried out within the framework of the USQUID during 2017, among which the historic trimestral ones stand out, where the USQUID analyzes the development of each quarter by course and grade, the study carried out on the academic results of the 4th TFG promotion and comparison with previous courses, studies of graduated promotions (ICT and Biomedical), reports on innovative practices within the framework of Bachelor subjects (Calculus, Algebra, Networks, ITIC, Image Processing ...), the Report on the distribution of the TFGs according to area / topic and typology, the Report on the satisfaction of the students regarding the academic and administrative support received during the whole process of development of the TFG and the reports of satisfaction of the student of master's degrees of the center.
