Are you a Bachelor, Master's or PhD student at UPF during the 2016-2017 academic year? Do you have a personal development project or an End of Degree Project that you want to make with the help of HackLab? This prize is for you!

For the first time, UPF’s USQUIDs convene a contest within the field of HackLab that rewards the projects and initiatives of self-learning, the exchange of knowledge and the interdisciplinary collaboration between different degrees, masters and doctorates.

That is why they will grant the winning project a total of 800€ for material, resources or activities dedicated to the project; and up to two mentions with a budget of 200€ each. In addition, the winners and finalists will receive diplomas of mention in a public act.

HACKLAB PROJECT AWARD

Presentation

With the objective of promoting the exchange of knowledge and ideas and collaboration in learning initiatives, beyond the curricula and the classroom, this prize has been created for student projects in the frame of UPF’s HackLab. The prize is funded by a PlaCLIK initiative of the UPC's USQUIDs (Support Units for Quality and Teaching Innovation).

First. Object of the convocation

USQUIDs UPF convene for the first time a prize for projects of self-learning, the exchange of knowledge, and the interdisciplinary collaboration elaborated by students of degree, masters and doctorate of the Pompeu Fabra University during the course 2016-2017. The teams can count with participation of external agents to the UPF.

Second. Requirements

  1. To be a team that involves students of a degree, master's or doctorate in the UPF during the academic year 2016-2017.

  2. The project goes beyond a proposal, that is, it must be implemented and have some activity.

  3. Applicants undertake to make a presentation of the work in a public event at the UPF or HackLab Conference during this or the following academic year, in case the project is winners or with a mention.

  4. Applicants agree that the description and photos / videos of their project will be published on the website of the HackLab of the UPF, and that can be disseminated through the website of the University, if this is how the evaluation committee of the prize proposes it.

Third. Presentation of projects

The project will be presented by email at [email protected]. The description of the team and project will be delivered in pdf format. The work will be accompanied by a summary of its content (maximum 500 words). Photos, links to videos or other materials can be attached.

Fourth. Time limit

This call will be open until July 9th, 2017.

Fifth. Granting of the prize

The prize is 800€ for spending on materials or activities of the project.

The evaluation committee may propose up to two mentions with a 200 € grant for materials or activities of the project.

The winners and finalists will receive diplomas that will be delivered at a public event.

Sixth. Composition of the evaluation committee and evaluation criteria

The resolution of the evaluation committee will be unappealable and will be published during the second half of July 2017 on the website of the HackLab UPF and the participants will be notified by e-mail.

The evaluation committee will consider the following criteria:

x Relevance and originality of the subject, beyond the contents of the syllabus (25 points).

x Degree of exchange of knowledge and collaboration between students of different disciplines and studies of the UPF (25 points).

x Level of activity or development of the project (25 points).

x Viability of the project beyond the studies within which it is framed. Diffusion and opening to the UPF community and external agents (25 points).

The minimum score to receive this prize is 60 points. The prize and / or the mentions may be declared deserted.

The evaluation committee will consist of:

x The directors and directors of the USQUIDs of the UPF.

x One or one CLIK representative.

x One or a representative of the CRAI.

x Two representatives of students who are not participants in the call.
