This channel will give preferential access to undergraduate studies in the branch of knowledge of the subjects examined in the specific phase.
Access over 40 years old
People over 40 years of age who can demonstrate work and professional experience related with a university official bachelor’s degree course and do not have any qualifications for admission to university by other means will be able to request this access.
This channel will give access to those undergraduate studies that offer this type of access.

Requirements:
This means of access is open to all people who meet the following requirements:
- Turn 40 years of age during the year which the test is taken.
- Not have any formal qualifications that enable gaining access to university by any other means.
- Accredit professional and work experience in connection with the university bachelor’s degree course for which access is applied.
Deadline for university entrance application:
Candidates who wish to gain access to Pompeu Fabra University will be required to apply for university entrance on the ACCESNET portal following the instructions set out in the 2024 Call for Applications.
The degree they wish to access must be stated. Only one study centre may be applied for.
Following the application for access on the ACCESNET portal:
There will be two separate phases:
- Phase 1. Assessment of proven experience (on the basis of the information and documentation submitted by the candidate when registering). This phase will be a qualifying stage and the people who pass it may attend the personal interview.
- Phase 2. Personal interview
The secretary of the Faculty or School will publish on the website of the centre the result of phase 1 and the date and time of the interview.
The Faculty or School will contact the candidates who pass to phase 2 to set date for the interview.
Please remember that passing the access process does not mean automatic adjudication of a place. Please check the allocation of university entrance application places on the ACCESNET portal.
Candidates who have passed the 2 phases and who wish to access Translation and Interpretation studies, in order to sign up for the aptitude test, please consult the website of the centre.
Structure of the process of assessing professional or work experience
There will be two separate phases: the first assessment phase will be a qualifying stage; the people who pass it may attend the personal interview..
Phase 1. Assessment of merits and documentation
Merits will be assessed in accordance with the following scoring system:
- Work and professional experience
The Assessment Committee will evaluate the experience submitted, provided skills are demonstrated that have an equivalent in the field of the bachelor’s degree studies chosen by the student: up to a maximum of 6 points.
More specifically, provable experience gained in occupations specifically related to the bachelor’s degree applied for by the student will be taken into consideration, up to a maximum of 0.05 points per full month of professional experience.
Proof of professional experience will be upon provision of a contract or appointment with responsibilities and official certification of periods of contribution to the social security system.
- Training
Accredited training will be assessed: up to a maximum of 2 points
Basic and advanced training courses whose content is directly related to the studies of the undergraduate studies applied for, with a duration equal to or greater than 15 hours, taken by the interested party, will be awarded 0.002 points per hour.
Basic and advanced training courses whose content is not directly related to the field of knowledge of the undergraduate studies applied for, with a duration equal to or greater than 15 hours, taken by the interested party, will be awarded 0.001 points per hour.
- Knowledge of foreign languages
The knowledge of foreign languages will be taken into account according to their relevance to the teaching and learning of the courses in question, upon accreditation of certificates, as set out in this paragraph: up to a maximum of 1 point.
- Intermediate level course corresponding to level B1 threshold of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) or equivalent: 0.5 points.
- Proficiency course corresponding to level C 1.2. Effective functional command of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) or equivalent: 1 point.
Having passed the merit and documentation assessment phase, and provided the applicant has obtained a minimum score of 5 points, the Assessment Committee will summon the applicant to an interview.
Phase 2. Personal interview
- The interview will seek to determine the maturity and suitability of the candidate to study the undergraduate studies applied for. This phase will be scored Pass or Fail. Candidates who get a Fail in the personal interview will not have passed this application process.
- During the interview, the Evaluation Committee will preferably use Catalan and will be able to verify the candidate’s ability to speak and understand any of the languages in which the corresponding qualification is taught.
- For those candidates who have got a “Pass”, the final grade will be determined by the sum of the grades of phase 1, which will also be used for the corresponding assignment of places.
Access over years old
People over 45 years of age who do not have any qualifications for admission to university by other means will be able to access university official bachelor’s degree courses by passing an entrance exam and the university entrance application.

Those people who have passed the test will request the interview via the ACCESNET portal at the University teaching the study to which access is desired.
