If you are a first-year Open Bachelor’s Degree student you will have three points of support: the mentor programme, the academic tutor and the Open Bachelor’s Degree office.

Mentor programme

This is a system that is aimed at providing you with a social reception and integration within the dynamics of the university during this first year.

How does it work?

You will be assigned a mentor, a student who has already taken first year of the Open Bachelor’s Degree and can know and understand your concerns, preoccupations and needs.

He or she will come and meet you at the university welcome session. On the basis of his or her experience, he or she will give you advice and support, encouraging in you a feeling of belonging to UPF over the course of the academic year.

Throughout the year you will receive online and/or face-to-face support in answer to any difficulty or doubt you might have in connection with aspects to do with the University, how it works or how to find your way around the virtual spaces.

What if I want to be a mentor?

If you have completed the first year of the Open Bachelor’s Degree, know the University well and have good interpersonal skills, you will be able to act as a mentor.

At the beginning of the year you will be required to introduce yourself to the new Open Bachelor’s Degree students and contact those assigned to you, maintaining a positive attitude to the objectives of the programme at all times.

As a participant in the program you will be given a four-hour training course, the corresponding certificate of attendance and 2 credits (equivalent to 50 annual work hours) and a certificate accrediting you as a mentor.

Here you will find more information about the program.

Academic tutor

Your assigned tutor will be responsible for advising you on academic matters for the first two years of your studies, until you register for the destination degree.

What will this accompaniment be like?

  • In the first year, the academic tutor will advise you in drawing up your own track of subjects, enabling you to explore the knowledge areas that interest you most.
  • Throughout the year, the tutor will monitor your academic achievement.
  • At the beginning of the second year, the tutor will guide you in choosing the destination degree in which you will graduate.

Open Bachelor's Degree Office

The Open Bachelor’s Degree office is an orientation and guidance point on all the formalities related to the programme. It will answer your queries about any academic matter and take care of the processing of the academic track taken by you in the course of the Open Bachelor’s Degree programme.
