Bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Studies (1995) and a PhD in Linguistics (2005). He is a tenured lecturer at the Department of Translation and Language Sciences, where he teaches courses on Spanish language and contrastive analysis between Spanish and Catalan.

His research focuses primarily on Spanish vocabulary and lexicography. He has worked on the study of the interaction between grammar and semantics and how it is represented in lexicographical works, especially in dictionaries intended for language teaching and learning. His current main lines of research revolve around lexical neology in Spanish. He is the principal investigator of the Lexicographic Information research group, Infolex. He has published articles in such journals as Probus, International Journal of Lexicography and Signos.

He has been a vice-dean (2010-2013) and later dean (2016-2021) of the Faculty of Translation and Language Sciences.
