The ECoTES Network was established in 2014 during the 1st Ibero-American Encounter on Labor and Health Conditions Surveys held in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 13 and 14, 2014. Currently it is formed by experts from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Spain, United States, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. Since 2014, the Network celebrates its annual meeting: Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 2014, Belo Horizonte (Brazil) in 2015, Lima (Peru) in 2016, San José (Costa Rica) in 2017, San Juan (Puerto Rico) in 2018 and Montevideo (Uruguay) in 2019.

The mission of ECoTES is to contribute to increasing the quantity and quality of available information on working, occupation and health conditions in Latin America and the Caribbean that may be useful to promote and facilitate activities and policies for the improvement of these conditions. To fulfill this mission, ECoTES proposes the following objectives established at the foundational meeting of ECoTES:

  •     Provide information for the continuous improvement of Information Systems in Occupational Health in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  •     To elaborate and make available to the social actors instruments consensus for the evaluation of the conditions of work, employment and their impact on the health of the working people.
  •     Promote the realization of Occupational, Occupational and Health Surveys (ECTES) in Latin America and the Caribbean and the use of comparable instruments and methodologies.
