The Center for research in Occupational Health (CiSAL) aims to be a -scientifically, professionally and socially- recognized center for the production and transfer of useful knowledge to improve the health of workers, for which it is constituted as a unique academic space for interaction between science and society, which produces and disseminates useful scientific knowledge for decision-making in occupational health.

CiSAL is based on values ​​such as teamwork, intellectual rigor and social commitment, and pursues the following strategic objectives:

  • Generate new scientifically valid and socially useful knowledge in occupational health.
  • Actively transfer knowledge to help stakeholders make the most appropriate decisions to protect and promote workers' health.
  • To train highly qualified researchers and professionals with the capacity to deal with traditional and emerging problems and needs in the field of occupational health.
  • Foster a multidisciplinary and collaborative academic environment that attracts and retains high-level students and researchers who contribute to achieving the mission of the Center.

CiSAL is a CEXS-UPF and IMIM-PSMar research group, which has been part of the CIBER of Epidemiology and Public Health since 2008 and is recognized as a consolidated group by the Agència de Gestió d'Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR) since 2002.

CiSAL investigates occupational health issues with relevant implications for workers, companies and governments, with special emphasis on evaluating the impact of preventive programs in the workplace and informing the priorities of health policies.

CiSAL is involved in the development of new tools for measuring exposure to occupational hazards, such as employment-exposure matrices, and surveys of working conditions and health, collaborating with universities and institutions in Europe and America.
