As a follow-up to the two previous United Kingdom reports and the Global Report on the value of occupational health (OH), the objective of this report was to evaluate the value of OH research. In its broadest sense, OH research is the scientific study of the interaction between work and health. It is multidisciplinary and encompasses a variety of areas of study that include: epidemiology of occupational diseases, exposure assessment, toxicology and hygiene, management of absences due to illness, well-being in the workplace and worker's health, evaluation of OH interventions and health economics. This report has addressed the "value" of OH research from an overall OH perspective, that is, improving the health, well-being and functional capacity of the working-age population. a social and public health perspective and an economic perspective
