Promoting active learning
The FHSL has always supported active learning methods to encourage students to become involved in their own learning process. All the Degree courses taught in the institutions have numerous experiences in this area.
As well as these experiences, teaching in Human Biology Degree and Medicine Degree incorporates Problem-based Learning (PBL) methods.
The subjects Integrated Biomedicine I, II and III taught on the Human Biology Degree course in the first three years, and Integrated Biomedicine I, II, III and IV taught on the Medicine Degree course in the first four years, have been designed using the PBL approach.
The PBL method is especially useful in developing basic cross-disciplinary skills. The FHSL was distinguished by the Ministry of Education and Science with the Innovative Teaching Award 2006 in recognition of its pilot programme on PBL.
