RemixED holds a training event for teachers from Spain, Denmark and Cyprus

10.06.2022

In early June, school education teachers from Spain, Denmark and Cyprus gathered for a three-day RemixED teach-the-teacher workshop held in Barcelona, Spain. RemixED is an educational innovation project aimed at training teachers in stress management and its implementation in the classroom to contribute to the well-being of students from Spain, Denmark, and Cyprus.

Throughout the three days, different workshops, seminars, and asynchronous activities were held on topics such as stress management and universal design for learning (UDL). Panagiota Konstantinou-Katzi, a teacher from Cyprus,  stated that "Stress is not useless if you know how to control it. Inclusive education is like quality education. I really loved the project and the energy of the people involved. It's important to have people thinking out of the box for the education system to move forward and give students the opportunity to enjoy it and benefit from it the most”.

As part of the workshop, the participating school teachers (15 in total) worked with RemixED project partners to design the basis of a teacher professional development programme to be piloted at their schools during the academic year 2022/2023. For Ella Dutto from the Centro de Estudios Dolmen S.L. of Barcelona, “It’s wonderful to see the eagerness of teachers from different parts of Europe wanting to create more inclusive learning environments and help students understand and manage stress”, whereas Juan Manuel Corbacho Valencia from the Universidade de Vigo commented that “in person working is a huge advantage, since you not only get to know better your colleagues, but it is also easier to share and discuss ideas. Another big point is the multicultural approach to the project, although there are a lot of aspects in common concerning stress handling and universal design learning. For us as "non experts", it has been very interesting to learn more about this topic whose implications go far beyond the educational scope and are also applicable to university students.”

Workshop participants also had the opportunity to get to know the facilities of Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the surrounding PobleNou neighbourhood. RemixED (2021-1-ES01-KA220-SCH-000032801) is a 30-month project within the framework of the European call 2021 Erasmus+ for the promotion of projects in education, training, youth, and sports, coordinated by the research group on Interactive and Distributed Technologies for Education (TIDE) of the Department of Information and Communication Technologies of the Pompeu Fabra University. Together with the SEK International School Atlántico, the University of Vigo, the Centro de Estudios Dolmen S.L. of Barcelona, the European University of Cyprus (Nicosia, Cyprus), the Lykeio Archangelou Apostolos Markos (Nicosia, Cyprus), MLCommunicate (Copenhagen, Denmark) and the Klasseskolen (Hillerød, Denmark) participate in this project.
