The second round of RemixED workshops in Cyprus was conducted between November 2023- March 2024 by the collaboration of LAAM and EUC.

Teachers-trainers made a new call to school staff, thus a new group of 10 teachers applied to the call and formed the new cohort. Two main workshops were run in November 2023, in which participants were trained in Spotlighters Units, focusing on the Science of Stress and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

During the workshops, teachers formed teams to redesign Spotlighters material and designed lesson plans based on UDL and the team-based learning design approach. Each team had a mentor, one of the teachers-trainers who had previously completed the RemixED Round 1 training. The teams worked on remixing-redesigning their material to prepare for implementation in their classrooms.

Before implementation, during December 2023, a guiding session (workshop 3) was held at school. In this session teachers pitched their lesson designs and provided feedback to each other. Between January and February 2024, in a two-month period, the teachers-trainees implemented seven (7) lessons in six (6) classes. After the implementation, a final workshop/focus group took place in February of 2024 aiming at discussion, assessment and reflections.

The outcomes that emerged from the second round of workshops and implementation (2023-2024) were very positive and encouraging as teachers and students alike enjoyed working in teams, learned new things from each other and were truly motivated in reflecting on stressful factors and applying stress management techniques. Some of the teachers commented the following:

“I came closer with my students and that improved my relationship with them”.

“Learning about the science of stress, it helped me to cope with my own difficulties and identify some stressful factors and how to deal with them”.
