On Tuesday, April 8, and Wednesday, April 9, the semifinals of the 11th edition of the Rin4min (Research in 4 Minutes) competition will take place. Organised by the UPF PhD School, this initiative challenges PhD students to present their research in just four minutes in a way that is understandable to a non-specialist audience.

During these sessions, participants will compete in various knockout rounds, presenting their work before a jury composed of academic experts and science communication professionals. The best candidates will secure a spot in the grand final, which will be held on May 8.

The Rin4min competition not only tests the communication skills of PhD students but also promotes scientific outreach and the ability to synthesise complex ideas—key aspects for effectively conveying knowledge to society.
