AI and music ecosystem talks

Imatge inicial

The processes of creating, disseminating, learning and listening to music are completely transformed by artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies. This transformation involves some challenges and also opportunities for the music sector, and also has an important impact on society and culture. In order to create solutions to support a fair and transparent digital transformation of the sector it is essential to understand the real needs of all relevant stakeholders.

The Challenges and Opportunities in Music Tech project in 2022 proposed an open discussion process involving the different agents (music industry professionals, music creators, listeners, music students, archivers, music tech developers…) to identify how the use of AI and other emerging technologies impact the whole music sector. During 2023, the findings of this process have been broadly disseminated in specialised and general audiences.

In 2024, the Music Technology Group, in collaboration with the company BMAT (former spin-off of DTIC-UPF), obtained a Chair on Artificial Intelligence and Musicco-funded by Spain’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and BMAT. Follow their website for additional information on dissemination events related to AI and music promoted by the program.
