IV Prize for Gender Research - Master's Degree Thesis and Doctorate

The Equality Unit has awards to recognise postgraduate research in gender studies and sexual diversity carried out at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). There is one prize for Master's theses (TFM) and another prize for doctoral theses that focus on gender issues or that introduce the gender perspective in a transversal way.

  • The awards are addressed to students of the UPF and its affiliated centres that present a TFM or doctoral thesis in the 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 academic years that earn an Excellent grade.
  • Theme: the research can address aspects such as the inequality between women and men in economic, social, political or family spheres, gender identity, sexuality, gender roles and stereotypes, new masculinities, feminism, women's and/or feminist organisations, or the intersection of gender with others axes of inequality (social class, ethnicity, sexual identity etc.), gender mainstreaming, women and health, women and ICTs, governance and empowerment of women, and gender-based violence, among others. The work can have a theoretical or empirical character and use either quantitative or qualitative methods.
  • Prize: the prize is €1,000 for TFM and €1,500 for doctoral theses.
  • Deadline for submissions: papers can be submitted until 15 July, 2025.
