The asylum seeker, a political dissident from a country led by a dictatorial regime, worked as a waitress in a chain of fast-food restaurants. A few months ago, he was notified of the denial of asylum and was ordered to leave Spanish territory but, with the support of the Clinic, this order was invoked and its effects suspended. The company knew that the worker had received the order of expulsion and, bypassing that its effects were legally in suspense - it also fired it without compensation, claiming - incorrectly - that it had lost the right to work legally in Spain. A team from the Clinic, led by a volunteer lawyer, challenged the dismissal and in one in March 2024 has managed to recognize its improcedence and for the worker to be compensated.
