• 1st period: 15/11/2024 - 31/12/2024 at 23:59 (CET) for candidates interested in Erasmus Mundus Scholarships (EMS). 
• 2nd period: 01/01/2025 - 18/03/2025 at 23:59 (CET) for tuition fee waiver candidates. 
• 3rd period: 19/03/2025 - 05/06/2025 at 23:59 (CET) for worldwide self-funded candidates. 
• 4th period: 06/06/2025 - 06/07/2025 at 23:59 (CET) exclusively for EU self-funded candidates. 

Relevant knowledge acquired through formal and informal learning or experience can be recognised as part of the entry requirements or as part of the completed study requirements. In the recognition process, certificates and other documents are taken into account. Requests for recognition of acquired knowledge will be considered in the process of admittance to the programme by the EMAI Admissions Committee based on the submitted student portfolio. In the course of the study, the recognition process is conducted by the relevant partner institution and its responsible person/ body/committee.

Transitions are possible between study programmes:

1. which ensures the acquisition of comparable competencies or learning outcomes at the end of the studies;

2. among which, according to the criteria for recognising knowledge and skills acquired before enrolling in the program, at least half of the obligations under the European Transferable Credit System (hereinafter: ECTS) from the first study program, which relates to the compulsory subjects of the second study programme, can be recognised.

The conditions for transferring to the EMAI programme from other master's studies are:

1. Fulfil the conditions for enrollment within the EMAI programme.

2. Fulfil the conditions for enrollment in the second year of the study course in which the student is currently enrolled, with the additional condition that they have passed the study obligations in all subjects that are essential for continuing studies or equivalent subjects at other higher education institutions. The suitability of these subjects is assessed by the EMAI Academic Programme Committee.

The Selection procedure for all EMAI candidates is organised as follows:

1. Pre-screening phase: the received applications are checked for administrative validation.
2. Pre-selection: a first analysis will be performed to validate the minimum requirements.
3. Selection Ranking: all eligible candidates will be ranked by the EMAI Academic Programme Committee according to the following criteria:
   • Academic Excellence, including average grades, ranking of the university of origin, type of previous degree(s), and motivation letter/presentation video.
   • Practical and Professional Experience, including richness of extracurricular and professional activities.
   • Other Criteria such as inclusiveness and added value.
4. Interviews of shortlisted candidates: interviews will last 30-40 minutes and will be conducted online.
5. Final selection: students will be selected according to the ranking and the outcomes of the interviews. The final selection will consider additional criteria such as:
   • Nationality
   • Country of residence
   • Specialisation tracks
   • Gender & inclusiveness

A waiting list will be created to be used in case one or more students withdraw.

Candidates will be informed of their selection on the following dates:

• 1st period (EMS): before 15/03/2025.
• 2nd period (Fee-waivers): before 24/04/2025.
• 3rd period (non-EU self-funded): before 10/07/2025.
• 4th period (EU self-funded): before 31/07/2025.

Important: Enrolment takes place in September each year. Selected candidates must carefully check the UPF information related to the enrollment process because it is their responsibility to provide the required documents in due time. 

Students wishing to appeal the selection decision must submit a duly argumented letter within 7 days (one week) from the date of the official notification. No late appeal will be considered.  

Please note that appeals are not aimed at providing candidates with an additional opportunity to amend their applications after the deadline due to a mistake on their part. Hence, before submitting an appeal, ensure that your request is reasonable. The EMAI Academic Programme Committee usually considers a large number of applications and strives to make decisions that are as equitable as possible. 

The appeal should be addressed to the EMAI Academic Programme Committee at the following email address: [email protected]. The email subject heading should include “EMAI appeal” and the candidate’s full name. 

The EMAI Academic Coordinator will receive your appeal and prepare a response, which the EMAI Academic Programme Committee will review for approval. The EMAI Academic Coordinator may confer with relevant EACEA personnel before transmitting the reply to the student. 

The student will receive written notice of the result of the appeal within 14 days of submitting it. 

The EMAI Academic Programme Committee's decision after an appeal is final and cannot be challenged further.

The European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), in the context of managing the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters, collects and processes the personal data of some of the candidates. In particular, certain data of the EMS holders and non-EMS holders is shared with the Agency and treated according to this privacy statement.
