The EMAI Programme is a two-year (120 ECTS) Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree that provides a comprehensive framework of theory and practice in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The Programme, based in four European research universities, will give the students the foundational knowledge needed to explore both key contextual areas and complex technical applications of AI systems.

The four universities involved are top academic institutions representing world-leading research in Europe: Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona, Sapienza University of Rome in Rome (Italy), Radboud University in Nijmegen (The Netherlands), and University of Ljubljana in Ljubljana (Slovenia). The rest of the consortium is made up of the prestigious University College London (UCL) Centre for Artificial Intelligence, and other AI research centres worldwide, as well as 12 industrial partners, including multinational companies as well as small and medium-sized enterprises.

Who is it for?

EMAI accepts students with a strong background in computer science, software engineering, and applied mathematics. The main recommended entry profiles are students with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, such as Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Physics or equivalent.

The EMAI programme offers a unique formation in the field of Artificial Intelligence, integrating machine learning and modern symbolic AI in three aspects: theory, methods and applications. The EMAI students learn not only to use AI technologies but also to develop new tools that go beyond the state-of-the art. This is a key competitive advantage that will provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills for a successful professional development in a large number of sectors of the digital industry (ICT, cybersecurity, data science, robotics, digital health, renewable energy, etc.), as well as to continue a scientific career through a Ph.     Full Erasmus Mundus Scholarships (EMS)

    The Erasmus+ programme provides EU-funded scholarships to students who have been selected by the consortia. The EMS  will cover the programme tuition fees and provide a monthly non-taxable stipend of €1400 for the full length of the programme (24 months) for travel, installation and subsistence costs.

    Full Fee Waivers

    If you are not offered an EMS, we may offer you a Full Fee Waiver. A Full Fee Waiver covers the costs of the Tuition Fees for your first and second year of study.

    Tuition fees

    The tuition fee is €9,000/year.
     

    The programme relies on the following nationally accredited degrees included in the catalogue of the partner HEIs:

    The EMAI expects a joint degree to be delivered by the four partner universities. However, double or multiple degrees would be issued by the relevant partners during the national accreditation processes. In this case, the degree will be issued by the rules and regulations of each partner university.
