Based on a rigorous systematic review, this DigiDoc report is a remarkable reflection on journalism's contemporary horizon. According to this document's abstract:
"Media is continuously applying innovations in such a way that they it is transforming journalistic genres and formats, opening a new scenario in the way of telling and consuming news. These changes are also reflected in academic research on journalism. This article carries out a systematized review of new journalistic formats, specifically on structured journalism, immersive journalism, 360 video reporting, journalism with virtual reality, journalism with augmented reality, newsgames and docugames. To do this, on the one hand, the scientific production on these formats is analyzed with the aim of knowing the academic impact of said studies, identifying their characteristics and determining their academic evolution. On the other hand, the main researchers in this area are identified and interviewed to find out their opinion on the future of journalism and the trends to come. The results indicate that 2019 was the year with the most academic publications in the area of journalistic innovation, especially in magazines such as Digital Journalism, Journalism Practice and El Profesional de la Información, leading publications in this discipline. On the other hand, the 23 academics interviewed confirmed that journalistic innovation mainly impacts four aspects: information and content, audience, methods and resources and the journalistic company".
