UPF Law and Economics student published in the prestigious CONEDE Law Review
An article authored by Jordi Bravo i Rius, a dual degree student in Law and Economics at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and coordinator of the UPF Legal Clinic, has been published in the 4th issue of the renowned CONEDE Law Review (Revista Jurídica CONEDE). This publication marks a milestone: it is the first time the journal has featured academic work by a UPF student.
The study, titled “Price Revision in Labor-Intensive Service Contracts,” addresses a critical issue in current administration: how to prevent public contracts from becoming obsolete when costs rise.
The Challenge of Labor Inflation Bravo i Rius’s analysis focuses on services where the human factor is the key element (such as cleaning, security, or auxiliary services). According to the author, the current model is too rigid:
-
The Problem: When wages rise by law or collective bargaining agreements, the contracting company often cannot pass on this cost, putting the continuity of the service at risk.
-
The Solution: The study advocates for the need for exceptional mechanisms that allow prices to be adapted without undermining the legal foundations of public procurement.
“Current economic reality shows that long-term contracts can be affected by significant changes in costs. The challenge is to adapt without breaking the system,” explains Jordi Bravo.
With this contribution, the student not only demonstrates his research potential but also places himself at the center of the debate on the future of Public Law and efficiency in managing essential services for citizens.
