Visit to the Congress of Deputies
The two Afghan prosecutors, who arrived by order of the National Court, visit the Congress of Deputies with the Legal Clinic
On 18 February 2026, a delegation from the Legal Clinic visited the Congress of Deputies in Madrid, accompanied by the two Afghan prosecutors who had recently arrived in Spain under an order issued by the National Court, following an appeal brought by the Legal Clinic itself.
The delegation was received by the MP Jon Iñarritu, a member of the Congress's Committee on Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the prosecutors outlined the serious difficulties they have faced in their process of seeking international protection, as well as the extreme vulnerability that many people in Afghanistan who defended democracy, the rule of law and human rights continue to suffer.
The visit is part of the work of the Strategic Defence of Fundamental Rights Legal Clinic, which provides legal support to people at risk in collaboration with public institutions and institutional actors.
