Dr. Jarosław R. Lelonkiewicz obtained degrees in Applied Psychology and Journalism and Social Communication from Jagiellonian University (Poland), followed by a PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Edinburgh (UK). He gained experience working as a Research Assistant and a Teaching Assistant at The University of Edinburgh, and as a Lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University (UK). Most recently, he completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (Italy) and worked as a Postdoctoral Investigator at Monterrey Institute of Technology (Mexico).

Dr. Lelonkiewicz has a track record of publishing in high-impact journals, participating in cutting-edge many-labs collaborations, and attracting funding from academic and non-academic bodies. He sits on the Steering Committee of iCog Network for Interdisciplinary Cognitive Science, the Data and Methods Committee of Psychological Science Accelerator, and serves as a Recommender for Peer Community in Registered Report.

In his research, Dr. Lelonkiewicz investigates the mental processes supporting complex cognition. What enables us to produce and understand language? How is it that we learn? What determines how much we remember? To answer these questions, Dr. Lelonkiewicz explores various phenomena in which language, learning, and memory are applied. Funded by the EUTOPIA-SIF programme, Dr. Lelonkiewicz joins our group to research information overload –developing practices that can alleviate the negative cognitive and emotional side-effects of consuming high amounts of information.

The EUTOPIA-SIF programme, through which he joins our group, is part of the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action, co-funded by the European Commission. Each year, up to 25 post-doctoral candidates are awarded the funding to develop and refine their skills as leading researchers and increase their ability to pursue careers at the interface between academia and the private sector.

Integrating Dr. Lelonkiewicz into our research team strengthens its interdisciplinary essence and underscores our commitment to advancing the convergence of society, psychology, and communication. The research group members extend a warm welcome to Jarosław and express their sincere wishes for his success.
