Connecting language

After more than a century of studying the fundamental mechanisms underpinning human language, it is time to recognise that language shapes human cognition and thinking on a global scale. In these summer school lectures, I propose to demonstrate several ways in which language deeply interacts with other facets of human cognition, such as perception, conceptualisation, and decision making. I will focus mainly on experiments using event-related potentials but also behavioural measurements and eye-tracking to showcase how predictive experiments can shed new light on language-cognition interactions.
