Among the latest studies carried out by the Teaching Quality and Innovation Support Unit at the Engineering@UPF Faculty there is the one focused on the first class Graduated in ICT, you can find a summary clicking here, and the one that shows the results obtained from the ESUP Internship Systemanalysis, presented below.

The Faculty formalized around 70 agreements with enterprises, research groups, and other kinds of organizations on the field of ICT in the school year 2012-2013, and the first term of 2013-2014 (which is when the data were gathered for this study), since there were around 35 formalized.

At the end of 2013 more than 120 students from the Bachelor's Degrees in Engineering at UPF had done external internships. A half of these students (60) have participated in this study about external internships.

One of the interests of this study was to know what encourages the students at ESUP to do internships: the results show that on the first place there are the acquisition of new knowledge (3,7/4), the fact of knowing the future profession closely and being able to increase the possibilities of de professional integration (both with an average valuation of 3,4/4).

Aside the motivations, we wanted to know as well which are the criteria used to select the internship center, in this field the aspects that especially stood out were the motivation of the tasks that must be carried out, the interest in the business sector or field and the motivation of the pre-establishedcompetences. The professional contacts acquisition and the fact of knowing a company also appeared.

Another data deduced from this study was that the 93 % of the participants assert that they are able torecognize the acquired competences once they had finished their internship, and a higher percentage (97 %) asserts that they are satisfied with the received tutoring.

To conclude, we would like to point out that the internship system most positively valued aspectsare: professional experience acquisition, learning, the economical remuneration, the fast and simplemanagement and the large variety of centers offered on the job listing.
