Would you like to know what USQUID did during 2015?

26.01.2016

The USQUID at the Engineering School at UPF keeps on working to improve the quality of teaching at the center as well as to promote and support the innovation actions carried out by both the faculty and the USQUID. The Unity is formed by Davinia Hernández-Leo (director), Verónica Moreno Oliver (pedagogue) and both IT and pedagogical support staff y personal, the Unity has recently published a report available for the Engineering School faculty at UPF on their website (USQUID Website) which includes the main actions carried out during 2015.

As it is known, the Engineering USQUID offers support to the faculty of the Unity of Engineering and ICT Academic Coordination both in the design of teaching initiatives and in their development and evaluation. If you enter out website, specifically on the faculty resources section, you will find the section we have opened to support the teaching in different fields (active methodologies, linguistic immersion, etc.). You will also find a section focused on the students on the tag academic resources which contains audiovisual materials and resources, documentation, etc. addressed to support and promote the learning and auto-learning in different areas. Furthermore, the USQUID holds since 2014 the Symposium on Teaching Innovation at DTIC/ESUP, having said that we would like to point out that more than 30 professors, as well as teaching intern staff, and CQUID representatives participated in 2015’s edition, which took place in March the 17th. This Symposium is held with the aim of providing a relaxed atmosphere in which the center’s faculty is able to share experiences and teaching projects with the attendees as well as to create a debate and collective reflection scene. You can find all the information about the II Symposium on Teaching Innovation at DTIC/ESUP clicking here.

During 2015, the USQUID website of the Engineering School at UPF received 52585 views which computed a total of 127868 visited sites. As usual in the analysis of previous years, the most visited sites are the ones that contain methodological strategies as teaching resources.

We would like to add the publication in the magazine Education in the Knowledge Society, in the special issue “Educative Informatics and Education in Informatics” in which we provide a detailed synthesis of the tasks carried out by the USQUID in the design, development and evaluation of the Teacher's guide to monitoring and assessment for BFP, available resource both in the e-Repositori of the UPF (3310 views) and here for the online version (3991 views).

Naming studies and investigations developed by the USQUID during 2015, we would like to point out, in relation to studies and corresponding reports, the article regarding the second year of ICT graduates (summary news here), the analysis of bachelor’s degrees changes due to both loss of presence and voluntary changes, and the analysis of cases with simultaneous degrees in the Engineering School at UPF. Lastly, we would like to emphasize a study performed quarterly about the Teaching Assistant’s role in the ITC Department, focused in needs, demands and teaching dedication in this group.

Finally, we would like to leave a record of the two PlaQUID projects coordinated by the USQUID during 2015; one regarding the elaboration of the map of competencies of the degrees of the school and the other one in relation to contrasting the quality and maximizing the academic and educational impact of the resources based on the work, promotion and improvement of the oral and written communication transversal competency in English.
