CLIK SYMPOSIUM- Innovative Learning Practices

11.10.2018

June 1st, 2018 the CLIK Symposium “Innovative Learning Practices” was celebrated on the Ciutadella Campus. It was presented by the academic director of the CLIK, Dr Manel Jiménez, and by Dr Josep Lluís Martí.

The symposium consisted of two main parts: “Sharing” and “Dialoguing”.

The first part was presented by the director of the Jaume Bofill Foundation, Mr Palacín. His contribution focused on demystifying innovation. At the same time, he set out the students’ important role in innovative teaching processes, that is, the importance of making innovative practices evolve towards a context that makes it much easier for students their learning processes.

After this consideration, several projects led by UPF teachers were presented:

-Encarna Atienza, Miquel Oliver and Davinia Hernández-Leo presented the project “OSWALDO: culture of observation, peer-assessment”.

-Jaume Bertrampetit presented “Why a MOOC? Course of Social Sciences and Humanities: ´Why Biology Matters?´

-Davinia Hernández -Leo presented Hacklab, a space for sharing knowledge alongside formal education.

-Humberto Llavador presented “Experiential Learning, Experiments as a Teaching Tool”.

-Elisabeth Moyano presented the “Avalua’t” [Assess Yourself] project, based on a self-assessment test useful for simulations and for consolidating knowledge in different modules.

The second part of the Symposium, “Dialoguing”, started with Albert Forn’s contribution. Mr Forn, headmaster of mSchools, set forth “a new way of teaching and learning” and presented the results of the education branch of Mobile World Capital. He wondered how technologies affect society and their impact on secondary education students. He also highlighted the impact of technologies on education and the advantages of digital transformation. Among other actions, Mr Forn’s team has changed the former technology module for another one aimed at creating an app for groups all year long. He also presented EduHack, a teachers meeting to create multidisciplinary teams composed of people wanting to exchange reflections to improve basic elements in teaching-learning processes. The meeting is based on design thinking.

The Symposium ended with a debate and a global reflection that gathered the different projects and initiatives mentioned, and highlighted the role of technology, its advantages, limitations and future chances.
