Transfer and recognition of credits
Credit recognition consists of the acceptance by Pompeu Fabra University of credits that, having been obtained in official studies at the same university or another, are counted toward different studies for the purpose of obtaining an official degree.
Credit transfer consists of the inclusion in the student's academic record of credits obtained in official studies previously taken at UPF or another university, which did not lead to the obtaining of an official degree.
Requirements and Documentation
The application for credit recognition implies the transfer of credits taken and passed in previous studies. When applying for credit transfer and recognition, it is essential to submit the following documentation:
Credit transfer and recognition application:
- Credit transfer: It must be stated that the studies from which the transfer is requested have not led to an official degree and that the student is not currently enrolled in two or more official programs simultaneously.
- Credit recognition: For basic training courses, the branch of knowledge and the subject area to which they belong must be specified.
- Academic transcript stating the subjects, the number of credits, and the grades obtained. If the student completed their original studies at Pompeu Fabra University, they do not need to submit this document.
- Photocopy of the syllabus (study plan) followed, duly stamped by the corresponding center. If the student completed their original studies at Pompeu Fabra University, they do not need to submit this document.
- Photocopy of the course guides or programs of the subjects taken, duly stamped by the center. If the student completed their original studies at Pompeu Fabra University, they do not need to submit these documents.
- Official document certifying the equivalence of average grades for university studies completed at foreign centers, issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport (MECD).
- Proof of payment of €54.54* to the Banco Santander account IBAN ES74 0049 1806 9924 1205 3335 for the evaluation of the academic record, as established by the Decree fixing the prices of academic services at public universities in Catalonia.
Documents issued abroad must meet the following requirements:
- They must be official and issued by the competent authorities in accordance with the legal system of the country concerned.
- They must be legalized through diplomatic channels or, where applicable, by means of the Hague Convention Apostille. This requirement does not apply to documents issued by authorities of member states of the European Union or signatories of the agreement on the European Economic Area.
- They must be accompanied, if necessary, by the corresponding official translation into Spanish or Catalan.
In applications for credit transfer and recognition from students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, the Faculty of Translation and Language Sciences, and the Faculty of Humanities, the academic transcript, the syllabus, and the course programs or guides in English will be accepted.
* Discounts/Reductions
- If you hold General Category Large Family status, you must pay the amount of €27.27.
- If you hold Special Category Large Family status, the fee is waived.
- If you are a student with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%, the fee is waived.
- If you are a student who is a victim of gender-based violence (including dependent sons and daughters), the fee is waived.
- If you are a student who is a victim of terrorist acts (including spouse and dependent sons and daughters), the fee is waived.
You must provide proof of these statuses by attaching a copy to your application.
Procedure
Application by the corresponding form submitted through CAU Studen Academic Service.
Deadline
- New students: From September 1st to 20th, without prejudice to the provisions for admission applications from students with prior university studies.
- First-year students who enroll after September 20th may submit their recognition application within 20 days following their enrollment date.
- Students currently enrolled in programs at Pompeu Fabra University: From the start of the academic year until May 31st.
Financial Effects of Credit Recognition
The financial implications of credit recognition applications can be consulted in the regulations governing the financial aspects of enrollment.
Once the credit recognitions have been resolved and incorporated into the student's academic record, they cannot be removed or cancelled from said record.
Resolution
Applications for credit transfer and recognition shall be resolved by the Dean or Director of the program, taking into account the criteria of each Faculty.
