The UCA of Humanities offers six collaboration grants within the project of linguistic mentorship in English, Catalan and Spanish for the Humanities and the Global Studies degrees during the academic year 2023/2024.

Eligible candidates must be third- or fourth-year students of the Humanities degree, third-year students of the Global Studies degree or postgradutate students in the Humanities department.  

Successful candidates will act under the direction of the program's coordinator carrying out activities designed to improve mentored students' linguistic abilities; more specifically, general reading and writing skills and/or academic writing in Catalan and Spanish (four grants) and English (two grants). Mentors will spend up to 6 hours per week over the Winter (January to March) and Spring (April to June) terms (120 hours in total). Remuneration will be 800€ before tax.

Applicants should send via email to [email protected] a motivation letter addressed to the Dean of the Faculty stating which language they would like to be considered for (Catalan, Spanish or English) and written in the corresponding language. They should also state their merits in relation with the task they will be asked to perform and attach their CV. Deadline for submission is December 4.

Applications will be assessed according to the following criteria:

- applicant's academic records (up to 10 points).

- adequacy of applicant's profile for the task, as shown in CV (up to 10 points).

- applicant's motivation letter (up to 10 points).

The results of the assessment will be published in the Campus Global and after a term of three working days available for allegations the final resolution will be published. Successful candidates will be asked to sign a document stating their rights and obligations, which include attendance to the induction sessions and writing a final report among others.

The Faculty of Humanities offers you a Mentorship Program in two modalities: Mentorship in Academic Writing in Catalan and Spanish and Mentorship in Reading and Writing in English.
 
All students of the Bachelor's Degree in Humanities and the Bachelor's Degree in Global Studies who wish to improve their written expression (writing and normative use of the Catalan and Spanish languages) can benefit from this program, their knowledge of the English language for academic uses or their use of orthotypographical conventions and bibliographical references in academic work (especially in the preparation of the TFG).
