24.02.2017

On 22 February, the University Board of Governors approved the announcement of elections for the post of UPF rector. Election day will be on 4 April 2017 and early voting will take place from 30 March to 3 April. The calendar has been set according to when the previous election was held, in April 2013, and to how Easter falls this year.

The particularity compared to the previous elections to rector is that on this occasion voting will be totally electronic, just as in other recent elections like the election of course delegates or the elections to the University Senate. The vote weighting percentages of the different polling stations are as set out in article 51.2 of the UPF statutes.

The main dates of the process are:

  • Publication of the electoral register: 24 February 2017
  • Deadline for the submission of nominations: until 6 March 2017
  • Definitive proclamation of candidates: 13 March 2017
  • Electoral campaign: from 14 to 29 March 2017
  • Early voting: from 30 March to 3 April 2017
  • Election day: 4 April 2017
  • Definitive proclamation of the elected candidate, or if applicable, of the candidates going through to the second round: 4 April 2017
