“Les de l’hoquei”, the fictional story arising from the bachelor’s degree final project by four alumnae of the bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication at UPF is to become a prime time series on TV3. The project by Ona Anglada, Laura Azemar, Natàlia Boadas and Marta Vivet, supervised by Marta Grau, professor of the Department of Communication at UPF, will begin filming in January 2019 and will feature all five as scriptwriters.

The series is a drama with a realistic tone and everyday content and it is markedly feminine. It revolves around seven players and the coach of a female hockey teamAll of them will have to try to find their place, both in their lives and within the team, and defend it against the threat of the disappearance of the female hockey team.

The series will begin filming in January 2019 and both the four alumnae and the professor of the Department of Communication at UPF will be involved in the project as scriptwriters

In the summer of 2016, the project began a crowdfunding campaign on the Verkami platform to fund it and raised 5,780 euros to film the pilot episode. In December of the same year they presented it at the pitch organized annually by the Audiovisual Cluster of Catalonia, an opportunity for young creators to present their projects to representatives of the audiovisual industry. Then, the producer Brutal Media (responsible for such successful formats as El foraster) took an interest in the project and became its patron. Now, two years later, TV3 has purchased the format.

The fictional series hinges around the theme of female adolescence, with women’s sport as the thread. The creators conceived the project as being the series they would have liked to watch when they were teenagers. They wanted to talk about the conflicts all four girls have encountered during that period: menstruation, girls who fight, the boredom of the villages, best friends who deep down you hate, the first crushes, girls who fall in love with other girls... Representing the LGBTI+ community from adolescence, moving it away from superficial topics or representations is another of its aims.

The first episode of the series, whose title is still provisional, is expected to be screened in late April next year. The location chosen for filming is Palau-Solità i Plegamans, since the action takes place in a small town and because roller-hockey is well established there. Although the profile of the main characters is young, it is suitable for all ages.
