Effects of language distance in bilinguals’ speech perception (LADIBIS)
This research investigates how bilingualism, particularly the similarity between languages, affects speech perception and neural processing from early infancy through adulthood. It considers a variety of factors, including language rhythm, phonemic repertoire, and vocabulary overlap, to better understand the relationship between bilingualism and brain function. This research aims to examine the effect of language similarity on various aspects of speech perception, beyond just phoneme contrast.
