Bilingualism and Cognitive Neuroscience CONSOLIDER Network (Red Consolider Brainglot)

The past CONSOLIDER BRAINGLOT (CSD2007-00012; 2007-2013) project involved a qualitative and quantitative research change for its research teams. The project allowed the generation of frontier knowledge and the creation of synergies between its different groups. The consortium of this next CONSOLIDER Network on Bilingualism and Cognitive Neuroscience is composed of the same research teams as the CONSOLIDER BRAINGLOT. The groups, coordinated by Professor Núria Sebastián of UPF are: Grammar and bilingualism (GB-EHU, Itziar Laka); Speech Perception, Production and Bilingualism (SPPB-UPF, Albert Costa); Cognitive Neuroscience of Auditory Perception and Attention (CNAPA-UB, Carles Escera); Action and Perception (GAAP-UPF, Salvador Soto); Computational and Theoretical Neuroscience (CTN-UPF, Gustavo Deco); Neuropsychology and Functional Neuroimaging (NFN-UJI, César Ávila).

The main scientific objective of the CONSOLIDER BRAINGLOT project was to provide a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying the learning of two languages. A second aim was to investigate the consequences that this learning could have outside the domain of language.

The aim of the current CONSOLIDER on Bilingualism and Cognitive Neuroscience is to continue the synergies created in the previous project between research groups. The specific objectives of the network are training activities: a scientific workshop and fortnightly research seminars.
