Manuel Pavón-Belizón
I am a lecturer at the Department of Translation and Language Sciences, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where I teach Chinese/Spanish translation, Chinese language, and translation theory, among other subjects. I also serve as the program coordinator for UPF's Master's Degree in Translation for Global Languages (Chinese-Spanish).
I hold a BA in Translation and Interpreting (French and Chinese) from the University of Granada and an MA in Chinese Studies from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. I specialized in Chinese at Beijing Jiaotong University and Beijing Foreign Studies University. I earned my PhD in the Information and Knowledge Society from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, with a thesis on the translation and circulation of contemporary Chinese thought. As part of my PhD project, I held a research fellowship at Peking University.
My research focuses on translation, circulation and reception, translation history and translation sociology, mainly in relation to modern and contemporary Chinese intellectual history and Chinese literature.
I am a member of the research groups TRILCAT (UPF) and ALTER (UOC), where I have participated in several research funded projects.
I have translated works of fiction and non-fiction from Chinese into Spanish by authors such as Zhao Tingyang, Li Er, Lin Haiyin, Fang Fang and Lu Xun, among others.
