Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a PhD (Master’s students might also be considered).
  • Background in: Computer Science, Machine Learning, Music Information Retrieval, Natural Language Processing, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Strong programming and machine learning skills
  • Curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong sense of scientific rigor.
  • Interest in contributing to a publication-oriented research project.
  • Publications in relevant conferences or journals (ISMIR, ICASSP, ICML...)

PhD Position at the MTG - Steinberg

We seek candidates who have:

  • A completed (or soon-to-be completed) Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or Music/Audio Technology
  • Research experience relevant to the PhD topic
  • Experience in machine learning and audio signal processing
  • Strong Python programming skills (C/C++ is a plus)
  • Musical background (performance, production, composition, or theory)
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary and multicultural environments
  • Strong motivation for research and alignment with MTG values
