Background

SearchSounds 2.0 is a music web search engine. Originally developed by Dr. Òscar Celma, SearchSounds has been completely rewritten by Dr. Mohamed Sordo and now it offers more and exciting new features.

Full details of the web-based system can be found in the following papers:

We would highly appreciate if scientific publications of works partly based on SearchSounds cite the publications above.

Description

SearchSounds allows a user to search and browse music using tags, audio content-based similarity and (more interestingly) to combine both sources (audio+tags). The pool of queries is kept in the query bag, where a user can keep track of what he/she has been querying. Once a query is performed, the user is given a list of song items.

Each song item consists of:

  • A song title (if available in the id3 tags of the original audio track).
  • A progress bar that shows the hit score of the item.
  • A button to add the song to the playlist in the left panel.
  • A button to read the original blog post with highlighted tags extracted from the text.
  • A button to search for similar songs.
  • An audio player (from http://wpaudioplayer.com/standalone/).
  • A tag cloud. The different color backgrounds represent different facets of music.

And the good thing is that the music database is updated every day!
