Xavier Serra and Pedro Ramoneda participate in the V Congrés de Pedagogia Musical de Catalunya

The 5th Congress of Musical Pedagogy in Catalonia serves as a platform for communication and the exchange of experiences related to music education, organized by the Associació de Conservatoris de Catalunya with the support and collaboration of the Servei d’Ordenació dels Ensenyaments de Règim Especial del Departament d’Educació de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
This edition, titled “The impact of artificial intelligence and technologies on music education,” will take place at the Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona on February 21 and 22, 2026, and aims to offer a space to professionals in the music education sector in Catalonia where they can showcase their methodological innovations, classroom experiences, cooperation work, and research.
The aim of the Congress is to make available to all attendees good practices carried out by professionals in the sector in conservatories, music schools and general education centers, and at the same time, to raise awareness of the impact that music education has on today's society.
As part of the program, Xavier Serra will give a talk titled "Artificial Intelligence in Music Education: Opportunities and Challenges," focusing on the areas of music education where AI can have a significant impact, such as: music analysis, musical performance analysis, real-time intelligent accompaniment generation, automatic personalization of pedagogical resources, search and organization of large-scale music materials, or the development of interactive agents to support learning. Recent technical contributions from the Music Technology Group (MTG) related to music education are also presented, emphasizing open data, transparent AI models, open source, and replicable assessment methodologies. Finally, some technical challenges are addressed, such as the curation and reliability of reference data, the interpretability and traceability of AI models, computational efficiency for real-time systems, cultural and pedagogical biases, and the need to co-design solutions with educators and musicians to consolidate an interdisciplinary, ethical and open framework for the music education of the future.
Xavier Serra will be also one of the participants of the round table “Reflexió sobre l’impacte ètic i emocional de la intel·ligència artificial”
And Pedro Ramoneda participates in the Communications section presenting “Modelado de la dificultad de la interpretación pianística mediante aprendizaje automático”
