MTG PhD Students Recep Oguz Araz and Benno Weck-Hufnagel win UPF's Open Research Data prize

Open Access Week is an annual event promoting open access and open science. University libraries worldwide participate in it to disseminate scientific literature online and promote the idea that research using public funding is in the public domain. As part of the OA Week, the UPF Library/CRAI organizes different activities, including prizes for open research data for UPF doctoral students, to recognize the good management of open research data.
This year, two of the three prizes have been awarded to MTG predoctoral researchers: Recep Oguz Araz, for his thesis “A Unified Musical Similarity Metric: from Track to Version Identification”, and Benno Weck-Hufnagel, for his thesis “Content-based retrieval in large-scale audio collections with natural language as the interface“. The award ceremony took place on October 20, 2025, in the UPF Ciutadella Campus.
Congratulations!
