Participation in the +RAIN Festival 2025

+RAIN Film Festival is the first international film festival generated with artificial intelligence in Europe. The festival focuses on new creative practices, experimentation, and the integration of generative AI into audiovisual and cinema. One of the sections of the festival is LIVE, co-organized by Phonos, a musical and audiovisual performative event featuring proposals that incorporate artificial intelligence. LIVE turns the Poblenou campus of the UPF into a space to enjoy live musical and audiovisual works based on research and experimentation with AI, as well as the aesthetic and narrative possibilities of creation with generative models.
Among the artists participating in the LIVE section, Nicholas Evans, researcher at the MTG, presents a work based on his research, and a project resulting of the last Generative Music AI workshop, AgonIA, will be performed live.
June 11th, 2025 at Sala Aranyó - UPF Campus del Poblenou

Program:
- 19:30 Oddkins. Merche Blasco and Felicity Mangan.
Immersive electroacoustic performance where ecosystem sounds, generative biophonic textures and personalized instruments intertwine to imagine new forms of coexistence, symbiosis and adaptation between animals, plants and machines in times of ecological crisis.
- 20:10 AgonIA. Lina Bautista, Iván Paz and Roger Pibernat (Axalot, TOPLAP Barcelona).
Collective live coding performance created from a vocal piece developed at the Generative Music AI Workshop. A choir of three artificial voices sing in real time in search of new experimental forms of sound and visual interpretation.
- 20:50 déjà vu. Nicholas Evans and nara is neus
déjà vu is a performance that uses an algorithmic accompaniment system to capture and reflect expressions of the first performer, to be transformed and reinterpreted by the second.
Who operates the machine when the heart sings? The performance programme is recorded and performed live by adding the signal of mobile devices operated by the public and archive multimedia content in a live desktop documentary assembled and led by Anna Mundet Molas, artist and researcher in the UPF Cinema group and member of Malniu Films.
