As part of the Tech talks program, Sergi Jordà will talk about the impact of AI in the music sector with examples of the state of the art, and raise some ethical, philosophical and legal questions.

Abstract:
Neural networks, deep learning, and other AI technologies are rapidly accessing different areas of our society, with social and economic impacts that are often difficult to predict, even in the short term. Art and culture, areas that until recently seemed reserved for human creativity, are no exception. In 2022 we saw the massive popularization of image generation systems based on textual descriptions such as DALL-E or Midjourney. Current AI applications in music may not be as spectacular or popular as those in the visual domain. Still, the advances are no less dizzying, and the future possibilities are immense, with enormous potential for social and economic impact.
